Community groups across Melbourne’s inner west can now apply for up to $10,000 to help bring local projects to life through Transurban’s 2026 Community Grants Program.
The program is open to grassroots organisations working in communities alongside Transurban’s roads, including the inner west.
Grants will support projects focused on three areas including road safety, financial inclusion and the environment.
Transurban Director of Social Impact and Advocacy Gabby Sundstrom said the program was an opportunity for local organisations to turn ideas into projects that could make a practical difference in their communities.
“Local charities know what their neighbourhoods need, and we want to help them turn good ideas into action,” Ms. Sundstrom said.
“Whether it’s improving road safety, supporting financial inclusion or creating a more sustainable local environment, these grants are about backing the organisations already doing great work in their communities.”
Transurban will award at least one grant in Victoria to a First Nations organisation or project, alongside equivalent commitments in New South Wales and Queensland.
Successful grant recipients will also have the opportunity to secure additional funding through the People’s Choice Awards, with $10,000 available for the first-place winner and $5,000 for second place.
A new Employee’s Choice Award will also see Transurban employees vote for a Victorian recipient to receive an additional $5,000.
Applications close Friday, 9 October 2026.
West Gate Tunnel air quality update
The West Gate Tunnel has been operating since December 2025 with ventilation systems designed to manage air quality inside the tunnels and minimise impacts on the surrounding community.
Transurban conducts ongoing air quality monitoring inside the tunnels and ventilation systems, supported by ambient air quality monitoring stations at locations across the inner west.
Quarterly independent reports confirm the Tunnel’s ventilation system is performing as designed, and all licence reporting requirements are being met.
Residents can view regularly updated air quality monitoring data online at linkt.com.au/airquality.
