Yes! I have been a member of the Australian Greens for the last 3 Years.
What is the most important issue facing your electorate?
Housing is quite possibly the biggest issue facing Maribyrnong. The latest statistics forecast that the population of Maribyrnong will only continue to grow. Having affordable and accessible housing, and the services in place to cater to this increased population is of the utmost importance.
Should/how can Council support local businesses?
Council can support local businesses by tackling land-banking, working with local trader associations, and involving all stakeholders to collaborate on growing our business centres ethically, economically and environmentally.
Should/how can Council support local creatives and industries?
Absolutely, yes. Continued support and investment in our creative community attracts positive publicity for the west. Through continued grants and development of purpose-built facilities, Maribyrnong has the potential to be an even greater creative haven.
Should/how can Council help alleviate the impact of climate extremes on local communities and ecosystems?
Due to endless urban sprawl and Maribyrnong’s location, the ‘urban heat island’ effect is continuing to threaten our most vulnerable residents. By planting more trees and saving older ones, Council can combat this effect. Allowing greater access to community centres, aquatic precincts and sporting pavilions during heatwaves, gives residents an opportunity to escape hotter summers. There is also the issue of flooding. As we saw not too long ago, Maribyrnong is susceptible to disastrous floods. Council should be working with all agencies to support the community and improve emergency responses.
Should/how can Council help alleviate cost of living and homelessness?
By creating appropriate strategies on housing and delivering policy, Council can effectively reflect the needs of the community and their priorities. Council can commit to and pursue “Maribyrnong Zero” as a part of Melbourne Zero’s efforts to end homelessness in Melbourne by 2030.
What should Council stop spending money on?
All organisations should consistently review how they are spending money. It is important that Council remain transparent, and residents should feel confident their fees are being used ethically and in the best interests of the community.
Should the public be allowed to ask live, unscripted questions of councillors during council meetings?
Current Council governance allows residents to only address Council during town planning meetings. This should unequivocally be extended to Council meetings. I support the public being allowed to speak at meetings and ask questions during public question time.

If elected, I will always put the needs of our community first. I know how to help and listen to people. I am committed to working together to find solutions to community issues.
