Does anyone have an answer for this question?

I have a question I wonder if you can answer for me? Do you know what they are doing at the building almost directly across from Chemist Warehouse in Footscray? They have had scaffolding up for what seems like most of the year. It almost looks as tho they are renovating and fixing the building back to its former glory days? But in saying that, they have been working up there for ages. I’ve always wanted to ask the tradesmen but they use a window to get in and out of & it’s upstairs.

In response to last month’s Ghost Signs story about The Terminus in Williamstown

The Terminus was nicknamed ‘the Jungle’, because once you were in it was difficult to find your way out. On Sundays, punters would call the pub from the phone box at the train station to arrange for sly grog to be left out on the doorstep.

What’s happened to water in the west?

I noticed in August that I didn’t get a water bill and so called Greater Western Water. I waited on hold for 45 mins, went through their seven questions to ascertain I was me,  just to ask why my bill was late. They confirmed that metres had been read in July and then said they had issues with the billing system after moving to a ‘new system’.

It appears as far back as June they began changing the billing system and all customers would get new account numbers. BUT then the system screwed up and they haven’t been able to issue bills right through to a couple of weeks ago (3 months). There have been assurances of time to pay late bills but the missing bill is not the worry, but the NEXT one that will come ‘on time’ and by right after it.

We USED to be plain old Western Water until all the water companies in the Western HALF of Victoria amalgamated and all now come under GWW. So this is half the state we are talking about here.

I finally got a brief email on 29/8 to say bills were delayed but this was 3 months after they knew they had a problem. Not nearly good enough. How long does it take to send ONE email to ALL customers?.
