The West Gate Tunnel Project’s community Info Centre has reopened its doors for the inner west community to come down and find out more about the project. To celebrate, the West Gate Tunnel Project will be holding an intimate Open Day on Saturday 8th of May for locals to learn more about the project.
Revellers can expect to be munching on delicious food from inner-west local suppliers while listening to project engineers explain the upcoming construction activity and where it fits into the completed project.
Designed to be a fun opportunity to learn more about the project, attendees can enjoy a virtual drive-through of the project design of the widened West Gate Freeway, new tunnel and elevated freeway on the touch screen model.
If you are unable to attend the event, the Info Centre is still open to the public six days a week, where visitors can always enjoy a virtual reality ride through the West Gate Tunnel Project cycle super highway above Footscray Road, as well as an interactive model of Melbourne’s west when the project is complete.
There is also a scale model of the five-story, 90-metre long tunnel boring machines that will dig the twin tunnels between the West Gate Freeway and the Maribyrnong River.
Located on the corner of Whitehall Street and Somerville Road in Yarraville, the Info Centre is open to the public through to the end of construction.
People are invited to drop in any time during opening hours and group visits can be arranged for organisations keen to learn more about the project.
Due to COVID-19 regulations, this event is strictly limited to registered attendees only. Secure your spot by registering at: https://wgtpinfocentre.eventbrite.com.au
