    YOU CAN’T STOP THE MUSIC

    Date:

Hobsons Bay Music Academy has been a grassroots staple in providing wholesome music and dance education in the inner west of Melbourne. This innovative music family are currently engaged in a series of online concerts for aged care facilities across the city.

Known as the “Music Through Time” concert series, these Zoom – facilitated performances aim to reach as many aged care facilities as possible to provide an immersive experience. The set boasts diverse renditions of Sinatra’s My Way, all the way to Amazing Grace, and recent performances for Trinity, Benetas and Marina Aged Care have been a success

“All the elders [had] such a wonderful time…tapping and singing along” said the academy’s Director Mary Matsos

Mary is a 20 year pianist and occupational therapist, determined to continue the school’s mission of embracing change:

“What children need most right now is to keep a sense of normalcy and to maintain the connection and joy that dance and music brings”.

Mary and the formidable roster of well-versed music and dance educators have made the curriculum accessible and affordable through providing:

    • Secure live streamed classes and pre-recorded aural and theory trainings
    • Secure website access to allow students to connect and socialise
    • Consistent recital and performance opportunities to pursue self-development through to scholarship
    • Enrolment and preparation for AMEB and ANCA exams

Located on Millers Road Altona North, the doors are now open to anyone looking to enrol in this bespoke curriculum from the comfort of their own home and eventually in person when restrictions ease.
